IMOGENE WISE
GILSON -- Imogene Lindsey Wise, 87, of 933 County Road 8 died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.
Born June 16, 1908, in Knoxville to S.M. and Ellen Ida Nelson Lindsey, she married Rolland "Bill" Wise on May 19, 1933, in Knoxville. He died May 10, 1973. Two sisters [sic] also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two sons, William L. "Bill" of Galesburg and Clark of Gilson; one sister, Mary Pettit of Galesburg; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She attended Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb and Monmouth College. She was a teacher in the Knox County area for 25 years, including 17 years at the former DeLong School.
She was a member of Orange Chapel United Methodist Church in rural Gilson. She also was a member of Knox County Historical Society, Knox County Farm Bureau and DeLong Book Club.
She was a member of Knox County and Illinois retired teachers associations.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville. The Rev. Benny Stare will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Haynes Cemetery in rural Gilson.
Memorials may be made to her church.
