• He enjoyed skydiving and was a skydiving instructor, volunteered his technical expertise to the Cedar Rapids Community Theater (now TCR) and was very fond of jazz music.

• He was a registered democrat and active in the party, working as chair of the Linn County Democratic Central Committee.

• He was educated at Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI).

• He worked as an engineer for KCRG Television and Radio from which he retired from in November of 1998. He also had worked for WMT Radio's Muzak and the Iowa Highway Patrol as a dispatcher.

• He had a residence in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, Iowa.

• His Social Security Number was 485-36-5948.

• He was buried at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa.
