Eustis Man Dies At Wheel of Jeep
STRATTON -- Wayne Cecil Fletcher, 79, a life time resident of Eustis, died suddenly Wednesday in his car here.
The occupants of a passing car, headed towards Canada, reported seeing Fletcher's jeep veer off the road. The Canadians notified the police in Eustis. Fletcher's jeep left the road, ran down the embankment, but stopped short of Dead River.
Born Nov. 3, 1881, at Eustis, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albion Fletcher. He was a guide for about 25 years at Eustis. He scaled lumber in the winter and was owner of the Kibby Kamps on Kibby Stream, Franklin County.
Survivors include his widow, the former Nellie Knapp; two daughters, Mrs. Olive Blanchard, Merrimac, Mass.; and Mrs. Florence Ricker, Stratton; two sons, Burton and Dwight, both of Stratton; a sister, Mrs. Lillian Caldwell, Eustis; seven grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
************** Note: Three children were of a previous marriage to Violetta M. Taylor. The couple divorced.
