Charles W. Foster, Probably Oldest Fireman In Active Service, Dies In Lawrence

Lawrence, Jan. 20 -- Charles W. Foster, who was probably the oldest fireman in active service in the country, died suddenly here today, aged 87. He responded to an alarm Thursday noon, and missed only six alarms since he joined the city fire department in 1850.
