LINCOLN - Irma L. (Thompson) Potter, 96, passed away peacefully Sept. 25, 2009, with her family by her side at Colonial Acres Nursing Home, Lincoln.
She was born Oct. 8, 1912, in Lee, the eighth of nine children born to Carl B. and Grace (Cook) Thompson. A proud graduate of Lee Academy, Irma often told stories of her basketball days at school. She worked in local Lincoln stores throughout the years, including Clay's. "Nan Irm" loved hunting and fishing with family and friends at the hunting camp, and getting together and going places with her sisters and nieces. She loved to grocery shop every day and everyone will agree that she made great pies, molasses cookies and chocolate doughnuts. She had a special feline friend, Bandit.
Irma was predeceased by her husband, Ross Potter; daughter, Jo-Anne Potter; a brother, six sisters and two grandsons. She leaves behind a son, Richard Potter and his wife, Marilyn, of Lincoln; a sister, Grace Tinkham and her husband, Melvin, of Wales; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, special nieces and nephews.
Family graveside services will be held at a later date at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may give a donation to Penobscot Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 73, Lincoln, ME 04457.
