Judge Henry E. Ruggles


Judge Henry Ellis Ruggles, who died in Franklin, Monday afternoon, had been senior associate justice of the western Norfolk district court since 1898 and served in the General Court in 1892 and 1893.

He was born in Boston, July 25, 1859 [sic] and was educated in the Upton public schools, Phillips Exeter Academy and Williston Seminary. He studied law with Judge A.A. Putnam of Uxbridge and George W. Wiggin of Franklin and was admitted to the bar in 1888. He was town clerk at Franklin from 1890 to 1893. He had served as a trustee of the Wildey Savings Bank of Boston since 1895. He was a prominent Mason and Odd Fellow. He is survived by his widow, a son and a sister.
