Bertha A.L. Peabody
She was a caring member of the community. She was a past-president of the Cosmopolitan Club in Bath and was active in that civic organization for more than 50 years. She was also an active member of the women's group at the Bath United Church of Christ.
At the Anchorage, where she resided in retirement, she led many of the social activities. She worked alongside her husband with his many civic leadership roles. She also served as a Scout leader when her children were young.
In business, she and her husband were known store owners in downtown Bath for many years. She and her husband founded Peabody's, a clothing store for men and women in 1968, and then Roberta's Fashions. They also had a successful wholesale women's clothing business, Peabody Associates.
She had a love of the water, especially the ocean around Popham and Small Point. She believed in life-long learning and personal fitness, teaching senior aerobics at The Universe Gym. She was very engaged with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
