Benjamin A. Gardner

MONMOUTH -- Benjamin A. Gardner, 83, died at the Knowles Rest Home in Winthrop Friday after a short illness.

He lived in Monmouth for 15 years after moving here from Chelsea, Mass. where he was born August 18, 1877. He was the son of George H. and Mary E. Piggott Gardner. Prior to retirement, he was a turbine tender for Edison Electric in Boston. His wife, the former Lila Marston Neal, died in 1952. He was a member of Chelsea Methodist Church, a trustee of Monmouth Academy, and a Charter Member of the Monmouth Lions Club.

Survivors include two nephews.
