Fern Iona Hobbs ²⁷²

   Cause of her death was cancer.

Marion-- Fern H. (Hobbs) Gerardy 89 died Monday March 29 after a period of failing health. She was the beloved wife for 53 years to the late Paul W. Gerardy.

Born in West Enfield, Maine and raised in Millinocket, Maine she was the daughter of the late Monie and Leah (Danforth) Hobbs and a graduate of Millinocket High School.

In 1940 Fern moved to the Boston area where she married her husband Paul. She had been a resident of Marston Mills for over 14 years before her move to Marion 6 years ago.

Fern loved to cook and crochet but her greatest joy came from the time spent with her family, especially her grandkids.

She is survived by her loving daughter Fern I. Flynn and her husband Edward of Marion, her sister Norma Meehan of S. Portland, ME and her brother Baylis Hobbs of Nashua, NH. She is also survived by her grandsons Edward P. Flynn and John P. Flynn and her great grandchildren Liam, Brian, Nora and Avery Flynn. She was the sister of the late Fabian Hobbs.

Her visiting hours will be held Wednesday March 31 from 3-5 PM and 7-8 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel Plymouth Street (Rt. 58 at the rotary) Whitman. A graveside service and burial will be held Thursday April 1 at 11 AM in the Lothrop Hill Cemetery Rte 6A, Barnstable. Donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society #5 Manley Street West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
