Ella Remier
The Rev. Ella Deen Remier, 79, of Moline, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005. She died from complications caused by diabetes.
Funeral services will start at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Moline Gospel Temple, 2305 7th Ave., Moline, where she was a member. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Moline Gospel Temple. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the Moline Gospel Temple, Youth Group. Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is helping the family.
Ella Deen was born June 19, 1926, in Monmouth, to Hallie and Mary Lindsey Remier. They moved to Rock Island, and she graduated from Rock Island High School in 1944 and went to Open Bible College in Des Moines, Iowa, graduating in 1950.
She returned to the Quad-Cities and served as youth director at the Moline Gospel Temple. She was loved by all the youth. She later became an ordained minister with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. From 1960 to 1963, she was Christian education director at Highland Park Foursquare Church, Highland Park, Calif. From 1964 to 1968, she served as Christian education director at Community Chapel, Balboa, Canal Zone. She was employed by the United States Air Force. In 1969, she served as Christian education director in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She returned to the Moline Gospel Temple and was bus director and children's minister director. Ella Deen retired due to health problems.
She loved to collect elephants, take photographs, travel and play golf.
Survivors (and spouses) include her sister, Mary Jane Remier, Moline; nieces, Mary Jo (Burt) Tharp and family, Silverdale, Wash., Sandra (Roy) Barsh Jr., Tulsa, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Remier; and sister, Joyce Darnell.
