Brother and Sister, Former Auburn Residents, Principals in Double Wedding in New York
A double wedding of much local interest took place at the Little Church Around the Corner in New York City Wednesday afternoon with Wyland F. Leadbetter, and his sister, Miss Ona Leadbetter, former Auburn young people, as two of the principals. Both Mr. and Miss Leadbetter were graduated from Edward Little high school and from Bates College, where they were active and popular students. Miss Leadbetter became the bride of Loring W. Blanchard, Jr. of Stoneham, Mass., also a Bates graduate; and Mr. Leadbetter was married to Miss Lois A. Billings of Grand View, Wash. Attendants for the first named couple were Miss Frances Libby of Brooklyn and Clayton T. White, a college classmate; Miss Pauline Holmes of Brunswick, Ga.; and Dr. David Strong of Los Angeles, Calif., attended the other couple.
Mrs. Blanchard is the daughter of Mrs. Maude Randall Leadbetter of 430 Court street, Auburn, and the late Charles K. Leadbetter. She was graduated from Edward Little high school in 1926 and from Bates College in 1930. As a student she showed much promise as a musician, and when graduating from Bates played the organ at the commencement concert. She has lately been librarian in the Leonard branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.
