RETIRED AUBURN DRUGGIST DIES AT NURSING HOME AFTER LONG ILLNESS
Ralph A. Lochhead, 76, of 193 Winter St., Auburn, a well known retired Auburn druggist, died early yesterday morning at the Williams Nursing Home after a long illness.
A resident of Auburn most of his life, he began working at the Perryville Drug Store in 1915 and became operator of the store in 1949.
Lochhead was born at Pittsifled, Mass., Nov. 14, 1878, the son of James and Susan Hammill Lochhead. He was married to the late Gleana Boynton Lochhead.
A graduate of Lewiston High School in 1898, he attended the Elm Street Universalist Church; was a member of Ashlar Lodge Masons, Lewiston for 52 years, Lodge of Perfection, H.H. Dickey Chapter Rose Croix, Portland Consistory, Rumford Chapter, Auburn Exchange Club, Past President of Maine Pharmaceutical Association and a member of the Old Lewiston Brigade Band.
He was also a former bugler in the Maine National Guard.
Survivors include one son, John M. of Auburn; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Cobb of South Portland and Mrs. Susan L. Chase of Chicago, Ill.; one grand-daughter, Shelley.
DIED -- In Auburn, August 26, 1955, Ralph A. Lochhead. Funeral services will be held at the Plummer & Merrill Funeral Home Sunday 2 p.m. Friends unable to attend may call Saturday 7-9 p.m.
