James T. Lindsey
VIRGINIA BEACH
James Theodore Lindsey went to be with the Lord Sept. 13, 2008. Mr Lindsey was born in Waverly, Va., the son of the late Theodore Thomas Lindsey and Alice Holcomb Lindsey. He was the widower of Mary Halstead Lindsey and was also preceded in death by his sister, Mary Alice.
Mr. Lindsey was a letter carrier from the U.S. Postal Service and worked most of his career in Princess Anne County. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member and deacon of Back Bay Christian Assembly in Virginia Beach.
He is survived by six children, James T. Lindsey Jr. and his wife Karen of Virginia Beach, Daniel C. Lindsey and his wife Diane of North Carolina, Christine Abriss and her husband Richard of Virginia Beach, Holly Kozlowski and her husband Martin of Tennessee, Melissa Stanley and her husband Steve of Florida, and Rosa Lindsey of North Carolina; he is also survived by brother, George Lindsey; sister, Anne Bonney of Virginia Beach; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday in Charity United Methodist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Kevin Milcarek. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. in Back Bay Christain Assembly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to Back Bay Christian Academy. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements.
