LINCOLN -- Lewis H. Hanscom, 67, died Oct. 3, 1981 at a Bangor hospital.
He was born in East Newport, July 11, 1914, the son of Fred and Aria (Lewis) Hanscom. He worked for 37 years for the Maine Department of Transportation, retiring in 1974 as state highway supervisor. He was a member of Forest Lodge of Springfield, was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Anah Temple Shrine. He was a member and past patron of Pine Grove Chapter O.E.S. and a member of the Maine State Employees Association and the Mattawamkeag Wilderness Park Association.
He is survived by his wife, Glenace Cole Hanscom; one daughter, Mrs. Hugh (Althea) Hamlin of Caribou; one sister, Florence Seavey of Etna; two grandsons, Jeffrey Hamlin of Omaha, Neb. and Jon Hamlin of Bangor; one granddaughter, Nancy Hamlin of Caribou; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Clay Funeral Home with the Rev. Guy Downing officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 3:30-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday. Masonic memorial services will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Friends who wish may donate in his memory to the Eastern Maine Medical Center Tumor Clinic.
Lewis married Glenace Althea Cole, daughter of Lyndon Howard Cole and Lillian Mae Downs, 13 October 1934 in Maine.5908 (Glenace Althea Cole was born 12 July 1911 in Springfield, Penobscot County, Maine,272 died 25 January 1997 in Lincoln, Penobscot County, Maine 5909,5910 and was buried after 25 January 1997 in Lincoln, Penobscot County, Maine at Lincoln Cemetery.) The cause of her death was cancer.
