VERDI L. HAMLIN

BROWNVILLE -- Verdi L. Hamlin, 89, husband of the late Catherine M. (Smith) Hamlin, died Jan. 25, 1991, at a Brewer nursing home.

He was born in Monarda, June 29, 1901, the son of George and Ethel (Stanchfield) Hamlin. He was employed for many years by the E.H. Ladd Lumber Co. and also worked for the town of Brownville, the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad and retired as foreman of P.C.I. Industries of Brownville. He was a member of the Katahdin Senior Citizens, the Brownville Community Church and Pleasant River Masonic Lodge No. 163 of Free and Accepted Masons.

He is survived by one son and his wife, Hugh and Althea Hamlin of Caribou; one daughter-in-law and her husband, JoAnne and Eben DeWitt of Milo; one brother-in-law and his wife, Milton and Juanita Smith of Brownville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Dick and DeDe DeWitt of Milo, David and Janis Hamlin of Hampden, Jeff and Corina Hamlin of Aurora, Colo., Jon and Denise Hamlin of Caribou, Nancy and Timothy Cowett of Caribou; two nieces, Anita McQuade of Millinocket, Marice Arnold of Bradford; one nephew, Milton Smith, Jr. of Brownville; nin great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Catherine Mary Hamlin; and a son, Ernest M. Hamlin.

Friends may call at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, 6-8 p.m. Monday with Masonic memorial services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m.Tuesday at Lary Funeral Home with the Rev. Ann Stead and the Rev. Edwin Stigen officiating.
