Cause of his death was heart disease with malarial poisoning and rheumatism as contributing factors. Events • He served in the military during the Civil War. He enlisted from Winthrop as a Sergeant in Company I, 1st Maine Infantry, on May 3, 1861, and was discharged on August 5. He enlisted again from Winthrop on September 7 as a 1st Lieutenant in Company E, 8th Maine Infantry, was promoted to Captain in 1862, and was discharged on May 9, 1863. He applied for a pension in 1890. Thomas married Sarah Brennan. The marriage ended in divorce. Thomas next married Ida Adelle McKeen, daughter of Ephraim McKeen and Nancy Johnson. (Ida Adelle McKeen was born about 1852 in Stoneham, Oxford County, Maine 7753 and died 7 February 1909 in Portland, Cumberland County, Maine 7754.) The cause of her death was poisoning. |
