PORTLAND - Phylis (Fraser) Weatherbee, 87, died unexpectedly July 31, 2012, at a Portland hospital. Phylis was born Aug. 7, 1925, in Brewer, daughter of Lillie Fraser Logan.
Phylis grew up in Milford and graduated from Old Town High School in 1942. She went on to receive her associate degree from Husson College, and completed her bachelor's degree from the University of Maine, Orono, in 1947. She then took a break from teaching to raise her three children. After they were grown, she went back work in the superintendent's office for the Bangor schools. She also worked for WGUI radio where she did some voice over work, and was a substitute teacher at Hampden Academy. After her retirement, she traveled cross-country with her husband to Florida and Arizona and all the stops in between. Phylis was a great reader of different kinds of books and was a "whiz" at crossword puzzles. She enjoyed skiing, photography and collecting antiques. Phylis also had a lifelong love of Terriers, including her current Jack Russell, Meg.
