Katherine E. Mallar

FARMINGDALE-- Katherine E. Mallar, 76, of Farmingdale, died Saturday May 22, 2010 at Gosnell Hospice House in Scarborough.

She was born in Milo, July 7, 1933 the daughter of Herbert and Gertrude (Hanscom) Bishop. Shortly after her birth, Katherine's family moved to Waterville where she was raised by her mother as her father died at an early age. She graduated from Waterville High School and shortly after met Roger Mallar. They were married June 16, 1954.

Katherine was, above all else, a woman who loved her family and devoted herself to raising her children. She had a great sense of humor and a theatrical personality. She was fun-loving and outgoing with a straight-forward point of view. She loved gardening, especially her miniature roses. She liked to shop and lunch with her friends. She and her family spent many enjoyable summers at Bayley's Campground in Scarborough.

Mrs. Mallar was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Bishop and a sister, Phyllis Mallett.
She is survived by her husband, Roger Mallar; three sons, Michael Mallar and his wife, Debra, of Augusta, Daniel Mallar and his wife, Kathy, of East Stoneham, and Steven Mallar, of Old Orchard Beach, and a daughter, Karen Ledew, of Cape Elizabeth.

A celebration of Katherine's life will be held at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, Friday June 11 at 6:00p.m. Relatives and friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home from 4:00pm to the time of the service.
