Gary "Hap" Altmaier, Jr. Missoula
Memorial service for Gary Cleveland "Hap" Altmaier, Jr., 37, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Christian Life Center in Missoula. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Newport Assembly of God Church in Newport, Wash. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, Idaho. Arrangements in Missoula are by the Malletta Family of Funeral Homes, and Sherman Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of local arrangements.
Mr. Altmaier, who was born in Sandpoint, died Thursday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in the Missoula area.
He graduated in 1978 from Priest River High School and obtained his associate degree at North Idaho College. He later received his degree in physical therapy at the University of Missoula in 1989.
In 1982 he married Kimberly Valez in Priest River, and they lived in Missoula the past 15 years.
Mr. Altmaier taught swimming lessons at the Missoula Athletic Club while at college and then went into private practice as the owner of Seely-Swan Physical Therapy in Seely Lake, Mont.
He also worked as a physical therapist for Partners in Home Care. He owned and managed an assisted living facility for the elderly known as The Gilbert House in Missoula.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Lance, at the home; a daughter, Desiree, at home; his parents, Joy and Gary Altmaier, Sr. of Priest River; a sister, Angela O'Connell of Moscow, Idaho; and his grandmothers, Bella Altmaier of Coeur d'Alene and Ellen Linton of Priest River.
