WILLIAM E. LEADBETTER
William E. Leadbetter of Portland, formerly of Auburn, died Tuesday at an Augusta hospital. He had been in failing health about six months.
Born at North Haven, June 13, 1869, he was the son of Lewis Leadbetter and Mary Calderwood Leadbetter. He had lived in Auburn most of his life going to Portland in 1938 and was a shoe cutter by trade.
Surviving are his widow, Sadie Knox Leadbetter of Portland, a son, H. Stanley Leadbetter of Lynn, Mass., a granddaughter, Evelyn Leadbetter of Auburn, a sister Bertha Beverage of North Haven, and a brother, J.C. Leadbetter of North Oswego, New York, an aunt, Adeline Lassell, Lincolnville and several nieces and nephews.
