NORMA WHORRALL

Mrs. Norma Jean Claussen Whorrall, 72, a resident of E. Sylvan Lane in Waverly, died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at her home. Born on May 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Adolph Claussen and Emmeline Pruyne Claussen. She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Donald Arthur Whorrall in 1999. For the past seven years, Norma worked for Jackson Hewitt Tax Service, Waverly. Before that she had retired as manager of One-Hour Martinizing, Petersburg, after 25 years of service. Her hobbies included ceramics, sewing and other crafts. She had sewed clothing and blankets for all her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Jean Carman and her husband, James, of Springfield, W.Va., and Terry Lynn Kubler and her husband, Paul, of Elberon; a son, Larry Arthur Whorrall and his wife, Cheryl, of Waverly; nine grandson; three granddaughters; nine great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. She was also survived by five sisters, Opal Hartman of Momence, Ill., Alice Ross of Hoopeston, Ill., Marjorie Ekhoff of Grant Park, Ill., Josephine Boicken of Grant Park, Ill., and Christine Meyer of Grant Park, Ill.; and two brothers, Donald Claussen and Ronald Claussen of Grant Park, Ill.

A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, in Purviance Funeral Chapel, Wakefield, by Paula Ropelewski. Burial will be in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Memorial donations may be made to Waverly Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 583, Waverly, VA 23890. Norma Whorral -- Waverly, Va.

Norma Claussen Whorral, 72, of Waverly, Va., and sister and sister-in-law of several area residents, died Tuesday (July 18, 2006) at her home. Services were held July 22 at Purviance Funeral Home in Wakefield, Va. Interment was in Waverly.

Mrs. Whorral was born May 14, 1934, in Crown Point, Ind., the daughter of Adolph and Emmeline Pruyne Claussen. Her husband, Donald Whorral, whom she married in May 1953, died in 1999. She was a 1952 graduate of Momence High School.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and James Carman of Fort Ashley, West Virginia, Terry and Paul Kubler of Elberon, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Whorral of Waverly; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandson, all of the Virginia area; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Opal and Forrest Hartman of Momence, Alice Ross of Hoopeston, Marjorie and Marvin Eckhoff, Christine and Fred Meyer, Josephine and Richard Boicken; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Donald and Diana Claussen, Ronald and Jill Claussen, all of Grant Park; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dick and Donna Whorral of Grant Park; and two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sue and Leonard Bydalek of Kankakee, Catherine and Jim Wilder of Florida; and many nieces and nephews of the Kankakee area.

Her mother-in-law and father-in-law; and one nephew, Steve Stadt, are deceased.
