Downey Sisters Married Only Three Weeks Apart

Miss Rebecca Downey and Anton D. Kinert were married July 27 in the First Methodist church of Oak Park by the Rev. Dr. Lester Minnion. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Burns Price Downey of North Grove avenue. The parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kinert, also of North Grove avenue. The bride's sister, Zannetta, became the bride of Raymond R. Beranek in the same church three weeks previously.

Rebecca was escorted by her father to the candlelit altar, which was decorated with white summer flowers and ferns. She wore a gown of white silk organza embroidered with lace roses in floor length, and extended into full length train. A large white rose set on a circlet of seed pearls secured her fingertip veil and she carried a crescent bouquet of pastel roses.

Her newly married sister, Mrs. Raymond R. Beranek, was her matron of honor in an aqua chiffon dress styled with streamers down the back. She carried a bouquet of baby white roses. Gowned in similar fashion were the bridesmaids, Miss Shirley Helms of Des Plaines, and Miss Andy Scala of Oak Park.

Charles Scala was the best man. Ushers were Richard, Betty, Terrence Stone, John Schoof and Glenn Downey, the bride's brother, all of Oak Park. Young Timmy Jansky was the ring bearer.

Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride entertained at a dinner for 250 guests at the Oak Park Elks Club. The mother of the bride received guests wearing a lime green silk gown with matching accessories and a green and yellow orchid corsage. The senior Mrs. Kinert wore a gown of yellow silk with matching accessories and a green orchid corsage.

After honeymooning in Wisconsin, the newlyweds are making their home in Hillside. Both young people are graduates of Oak Park-River Forest High School.

Prenuptial entertaining included parties given by Mrs. Walter Lay, Mrs. Eugene Fonke, Mrs. George Kubal, and Mrs. S.J. Broberg and her daughter, Karen.
