Philip Welch

DIXFIELD - Philip E. Welch, 72, died early Thursday at his home at 111 High St., Rangeley.

He was born at North New Portland, June 9, 1910, the son of Alick and Etta Moulton Welch. He was a resident of Dixfield for over 50 years, residing at Hall Hill. He was employed at local factories and was a carpenter and painter by trade. He worked for over 10 years by the Towles Hardware Store, Dixfield, and later for Bass Shoe Company in Wilton, from where he retired in 1972.

Mr. Welch married the former M. Lucienne Lauze. She died July 22, 1978. He later married Dorris Morgan on Jan. 20, 1980. He was a member of the King Hiram Lodge, AF & AM, Dixfield, Somerset Chapter, OES, of Stratton, and the Dixfield Nazarene Church.

He is survived by his widow of Rangeley; five daughters, Miss Barbara Welch, Pownal, Mrs. Donald (Phyllis) Gouin, Norway, Mrs. Edward (Marilyn) Ellis, Dixfield, Mrs. Norman (Frances) Thurston, Rumford, Mrs. Merrill (Juanita) Briggs, South Portland; a step-son, Terrence Morgan, Rangeley; a step-daughter, Mrs. Terry (Merideth) Harriman, Portland; one brother, Fred Welch, Oquossoc; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

WELCH - In Rangeley, Dec. 2, 1982, Phillip E. Welch, age 72. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. from Hawthorne Funeral Home, 39 Weld St., Dixfield, with Rev. Timothy Fox officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Dixfield. Visiting hours Friday 6 to 8 p.m. Visitation by King Hiram Lodge, AF & AM 57, Dixfield, Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Phillip married Dorris Estelle Knapp, daughter of Carroll Lyndall Knapp and Verna Fay Leadbetter, 20 January 1980 in Maine ⁶⁹⁰⁶.^,6907 (Dorris Estelle Knapp was born 7 December 1907 in Madrid, Franklin County, Maine,^{6906,6909,6910} died 10 December 1993 in Rangeley, Franklin County, Maine ^6906,6910 and was buried after 10 December 1993 in Phillips, Franklin County, Maine at Riverside Cemetery ⁶⁹¹¹.)
