ALFRED E. VOSE, JR.
LINCOLN - Alfred E. Vose, Jr., 76, husband of Marilyn (Budge) Vose, died after a courageous battle with heart disease, June 21, 2000, at his home surrounded by his wife and family. He was born in Searsmont, April 14, 1924, the son of Alfred E. Vose, Sr. and Marjorie (Cree) Vose.
Al was employed for many years at Eastern Fine Paper Company in East Millinocket. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving with Battery D, 776th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion. He landed in Normandy on Omaha Beach on D-Day, moved on to Germany and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a life member and served eight terms as Commander of VFW Post 1438 of Lincoln, where he initiated the Bingo project of the Post. He was instrumental in establishing the Veterans Memorial at the Mini Mall in Lincoln and served on the Conservation Committee of the town. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his wife, Marilyn, he is survived by six children, Mary Lee Hawkes and Larry, Shari Albert and Kip, Tim Vose and Betty, Steve Vose and Linda, all of Lincoln, Karen Linscott and Tom of Springfield and Jon Vose and Heidi of Lincoln; a brother, James A. Vose of Lincoln; a sister, Virginia Scott of Lee; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Vose.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.Friday at the Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Campbell officiating. Interment will full military honors will be at Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to VFW Post 1438 general fund. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
