James W. Bost
James W. Bost, 72, of 1809 W. Anna St., died Saturday at a Grand Island hospital.
Services are pending at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mr. Bost was born Oct. 12, 1910, at Lincoln, to Fred and Jennie Wilson Bost. His family moved to New York where he received part of his schooling. He graduated from the high school and junior college of the New Mexico Military Institute of Roswell, N.M. He graduated from the University of Nebraska.
On February 25, 1924 [sic], he married Harriet Bowen at Lincoln. They then moved to Grand Island and he worked at Bowen Drug. He then attended pharmacy school and graduated in 1936.
He became a licenses pharmacist and worked for Bowen Drug in Grand Island. He entered the service in 1940 and he served 2 1/2 years with the Supreme Headquarters of the European Allied Forces during World War II. After attaining the rank of major, he was discharged in 1946 and came back to Grand Island and started the Bost Pharmacy on Pine Street. In 1952, he built Bost Pharmacy on Second Street. He retired in 1974.
Mr. Bost was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge 1347, American Legion Post 53, Shrine Lodge of Hastings, Masonic Lodge 56 of York, Central Nebraska Shrine Club, Rotary and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Judith) Daly of Potomac, Md. and Mrs. Robert (Jane) Horning of St. Charles, Mo.; four grandchildren.
