Jerry Lindsay, 75, husband of the late Joyce (Coffin) Lindsay, died Jan. 11, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Carroll, the 10th of 13 children of Alvin H. Sr. and Gertrude (Elsemore) Lindsey.

As a young man, Jerry worked on the family dairy farm in Carroll, and also drove a milk delivery truck. He served in the U.S. Navy and was issued a World War II Victory Medal. After the Navy, he and his wife, Joyce, moved to Southern California. While in California, he worked for Topp Industries in shipping and receiving. He later worked as a Senior Buyer for the Teledyne Systems. In the early 70's, they moved back to Maine and resided in Springfield where they owned and operated an antique shop until their retirement. Jerry did excellent work at restoring and repairing antique clocks. He and his wife, Joyce, used to enjoy going for rides in in their antique cars.

He is survived by a daughter, Mary York, of Bangor; a granddaughter, Mandy Farrington and her husband, Paul, of Springfield; a grandson, Justin York, of Lewiston; four great-grandchildren, Marrinna, John W., and Makayla of Springfield, and Eden of Lewiston; a brother, George Lindsay and his wife, Charlotte, of Bangor; two sisters, Charlotte and her husband, Shirley Ireland, of California and Lillian Fielder of New York; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Leona and Jerry Crocker of Lee, Virginia and William Walker of Florida, Flora Mushero Lindsay of Howland and Doris Lindsay of Eddington. He was predeceased in 2002 by his wife, Joyce. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents as well as five sisters and four brothers.

A spring graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee. Those who wish may donate in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association, Maine Chapter, 163 Lancaster St., Suite 160B, Portland, ME 04101. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
