MRS. LENA C. SPEED

MILLINOCKET -- Lena C. Speed, 89, of 10 Main Ave., died Feb. 6, 1979 at a local hospital.

She was born at Argyle, Oct. 20, 1889, the daughter of Gary and Helen (Archibald) Comstock. She was the widow of Frank H. Speed. She was a graduate of Castine Normal School and taught school in Argyle, Bar Harbor and Millinocket. She was associated with her son in the Millinocket Insurance Agency for several years. She attended the Millinocket Baptist Church. She was a member of the Onawa Chapter, O.E.S., a former member of the Millinocket Library Committee, a former member of the Millinocket District Nurses Association.

She is survived by one son, Robert E. Speed of Millinocket; one sister, Mrs. Pearl E. Neal of Brewer; two grandsons, Robert G. and Frank E. Speed, both of Millinocket.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the David Wyse Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Jackson officiating. Spring burial will be in the Millinocket Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to make contributions to the Millinocket Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
