WILTON - Earle W. Sawyer, 82, of Sanford, formerly of Wilton, died Friday at a Portland hospital where he had been a patient for one day.
He was born at Wilton, December 17, 1886, the son of William and Lillian Whittier Sawyer. He attended Wilton schools and had been in the grocery business until his retirement. He received his 50 year pin from Wilton Lodge, AF and AM, and was a member of the Wilton Chapter OES, also of the Wilton Congregational Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Roberts, Sanford, and Mrs. John Stinchfield, Westbrook; five grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, Phillip, Farmington.
DIED - At Portland, Jan. 1 [sic], Earle W. Sawyer, at Sanford [sic], formerly of Wilton. Funeral services will be held at the Edwards Funeral Home, Wilton, Monday at 2. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery in the spring.
