BERNICE I. AVERILL
Bernice I. Averill, 87, widow of Laurence A. Averill, died Saturday at a Lincoln nursing home.
She was born in Carroll, a daughter of Alvin H. and Gertrude Elsemore Lindsay.
Mrs. Averill worked as a cook at Don's Diner, Lincoln, and at Forster Manufacturing Co. Inc., Madawaska.
She was devoted to her family, caring for her parents, husband, children and grandchildren.
A daughter, Jeanne Murray, died previously.
Surviving are two daughters, Leone Allen of South Portland and Beverly Smart of Kennebunk; two sons, Ralph Averill of Prentiss and Laurence Averill Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Lillian Fielder of Hudson Falls, N.Y., Gladys Composoulis of Oakdale, N.Y., and Charlotte Ireland of LaMirada, Calif.; three brothers, Alvin H. Lindsay Jr. of Howland, George Lindsay of Bangor and Jerry Lindsay of Springfield; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Belden Cemetery, Prentiss. Arrangements are by Clay Funeral Home, Lincoln.
