Irene H. Sanborn Hall
Memorial services for Irene H. Sanborn Hall, retired head of the science department at Laurel School, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Episcopal Church, 2747 Fairmount Blvd., Cleveland Heights.
Mrs. Hall died Thursday at her Shaker Square apartment following a heart attack, two days before her 82d birthday.
She had a doctorate in chemistry from Cornell University and taught household science at the University of California at Berkeley and home economics at Oregon State University before coming here in 1937 as co-director of Camp Yakewi, a former Campfire Girls camp.
Later she was field director of the Cleveland Council of Campfire Girls. She joined Laurel School in 1957 and retired in 1972.
Mrs. Hall was a volunteer at the Nearly New Shop in Cleveland Heights, a former chairman of the East Side committee of Planned Parenthood of Greater Cleveland and a member of the American Chemical Society and the Cleveland Audubon Society.
She was born in North Monmouth, Maine, and was brought up in Beverly, Mass. She was a graduate of Simmons College and received a master's degree from Vassar College.
He husband, Calvin, and a daughter, Dovre H. Busch, survive.
