Roland Lindsay

Skowhegan, Sept 6 --
Roland Lindsey [--illegible--] .. with the United Shoe Machinery Corporation and a former resident of Beverly, Mass. died Monday at the home of his nieces the Misses Katherine and Nellie White of Summer Street, Skowhegan with whom he had resided for four years.

He was born in North Monmouth June 25, 1860, the son of Roscoe and Eliza Berry Lindsay. He married Mrs. Lydia Maria Nutting who died in Beverly October 29, 1942.

Mr. Lindsay spent his early years in North Monmouth moving later to Lawrence, Mass. and then in 1906 to Beverly. It was in Beverly that he was connected with the United Shoe Machinery Corporation and later became a member of its Quarter Century Club.

He was a member of the Bass River Lodge of Odd Fellows in Beverly and an honorary member of the Masonic Lodge in that city. He was a member of the Dane Street Congressional of Beverly. After coming to Skowhegan, he joined and was an active member of the Skowhegan Rotary Club.

Surviving besides the nieces with whom he lived are a brother George A. Lindsay of North Monmouth, Maine, three sisters Mrs. Mary Sanborn and Miss Clara Lindsay, both of Beverly, Mass. and Mrs. Josie Walker of Rochester, N.Y. There are also several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Lord Funeral Home in Skowhegan Wednesday with the Rev. Charles L. Kinney officiating. Internment was in South Cemetery beside his wife. Bearers from the Rotary Club were Willis E. Porter, Elmer E. Harris, Lyndall T. Smith and Thomas G. Lord.

The cause of her death was new abdominal growth, lymphnodes and gangerene of the left foot, arterio sclerosis. Autopsy refused.
