Merton L. Jackson, Sr.
LEWISTON -- Merton L. Jackson, Sr., 80, of West Hardscrabble Road, Poland, died Saturday evening at Central Maine Medical Center after a short illness.
Born at Leeds, Sept. 18, 1911, he was the son of Philip R. and Georgia Carver Jackson. He was educated in Leeds and Berlin, N.H. schools.
On Aug. 24, 1938, he married Bertha Guilmette at Berlin.
He was employed many years ago at Bath Iron Works. Prior to his retirement in 1973, he was a greensman at Martindale Country Club in Auburn. He enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of Auburn; one son, Merton Jr. of Poland; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Coutts of Poland; five sisters, Jenny Donaldson of Milan, N.H., Mae Nadeau and Helen Gervais, both of Lewiston, Norma Martin of Florida and Esther Stiles of Berlin; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Phillip, and a sister, Rena Lunn.

JACKSON -- Died in Lewiston, Oct. 5, 1991, Merton L. Jackson, Sr., age 80, of West Hardscrabble Road, Poland, beloved husband of Bertha Gullmette Jackson. Funeral services will be held from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son, 62-82 Spring St., Auburn, on Tuesday Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. Interment at North Auburn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the chapel Monday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Grandview Boarding Home Counsel Fund, 316 Court St., Auburn 04210.
