Jackson-Fitzherbert Bridal Performed at Sacred Heart Church
Sacred Heart Church was the scene Saturday morning Aug. 11 of the marriage of Miss Patricia Anne Fitzherbert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fitzherbert of 86 4th Street, Auburn to Merton Lloyd Jackson, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Merton Lloyd Jackson of Auburn.
The bride was escorted by her father to an altar decorated with pink and white gladioli. Rev. Gilman Chaloult officiated at the double ring ceremony and Miss Jacqueline Martel was vocalist at the Nuptial Mass which followed.
The bride carrying a white missal decorated with an orchid arranged with stephanotis, baby's breath and ivy, wore a lovely wedding gown of net and tulle its bodice fashioned sabrina neckline and long fitted sleeves with bridal points, its full skirt designed with laced apron effect and a panel of lace ruffles at the back. An elbow length veil of illusion fell from a crown of pearls and crystals.
Her attendants wore ballerina length gowns of organza with enka nylon apron-like drapes at the front. Miss Diana Devoe for her role as maid of honor wore yellow and the bridesmaids, Mrs. Robert Coutts and Miss Sandra Burns wore pink and turquoise respectively. All carried cascades of carnations and baby's breath.
Arthur Laroche attended the bridegroom as best man and ushers were Robert Coutts and Gard Leavitt.
The wedding reception was held at the New Auburn Social Club. Receiving with the bridal couple, the mother of the bride wore a lace dress in mint green with cocoa brown accessories and a corsage of pink roses.
Miss Mary Millay had charge of the guest book and gift hostesses were Mrs. Gerald Keene and Mrs. Helen Laroche.
As her going away costume, the bride wore a white arnel jersey dress and matching accessories. Destination of their wedding trip is unannounced, but on their return they will live a 66 Spring St., Auburn.
The bride was graduated from Edward Little High School in June. Her husband, also educated in Auburn schools, is employed at the Belgrade Shoe Company.

Merton L. Jackson, Jr.
POLAND -- Merton L. Jackson, Jr., 53, of West Hardscrabble Road, died early Wednesday morning at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 26, 1941, son of Merton L. and Bertha (Guilmette) Jackson, Sr. He received his education in the Auburn school system.
Mr. Jackson married Patricia Fitzherbert on Aug. 11, 1962.
He was a self-employed contractor.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Maine Harness Racing Association, and enjoyed race horses, camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of Poland; his mother of Auburn; one daughter, Mr. John (Tammy) Ouellette of Poland; one son, Todd of Auburn; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Ann) Coutts of Poland; two grandsons, Justin and Benjamin Ouellette; and several nieces and nephews.
Also left behind, dear friends Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Glover, and Mr. and Mrs. Gard Leavitt.
