Alice E. Hinkley

TURNER -- Alice E. Hinkley, 85, Upper Street, died Sunday afternoon at the Humana Hospital, St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was born at East Turner, Sept. 29, 1903, the daughter of Ernest and Emma Carver Jordan. She was educated in Turner schools and graduated from Leavitt Institute with the class of 1922. She attended Farmington Normal School and taught school in Turner prior to her marriage to Percival T. Hinkley at Turner, Aug. 2, 1924. Mrs. Hinkley was a homemaker and worked at the family store and gas station on Upper Street, where the family also had vegetables and flower gardens. She was a member of the Turner Senior Citizens and the Turner Center Extension Group.

Surviving are her husband of Turner and Pinellas Park, Fla.; a daughter, mrs. Arlene Samson of Turner; two sons, Donald and Russell Sr., both of Turner; a sister, Rita Hendershot of Turner; three brothers, Carroll, Stanley and Roy Jordan, all of Turner; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Curtis Samson, who died in 1981 and a sister, Eva Davis.
