Josephine Hinkley

TURNER -- Mrs. Josephine True Hinkley, 102, died Friday noon at the home of a son on Upper Street.

She was born in Turner at the same family homestead where she died, Sept. 21, 1868, the daughter of Horace and Elisabeth Ellis True. She was educated in Turner schools, graduated from Heborn Academy in 1889, and taught school for many years in Peru, Turner and Rumford. On Nov. 28, 1901, she was married to John B. Hinkley who died in Turner Feb. 5, 1963. She was a member of the Mexico Congregational Church, a charter member of the Federated Church Circle of Turner, Golden Sheaf member of the Turner Grange, and holder of the Boston Post Gold Cane.

Mrs. Hinkley is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Rebecca Robertson, Cape Elizabeth; three sons, Percival, Edward and Paul, all of Turner; 12 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and a great great grandchild.

DIED -- In Turner, January 8, 1971, Josephine True Hinkley, age 102, widow of John B. Hinkley. Funeral services from the Federated Church in Turner, Monday, Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. Entombment at the Village Cemetery in Turner with burial to take place there in the spring. Friends may call at the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Please omit flowers.
