Mildred Hobbs

KITTERY, Maine \emdash Mildred M. Hobbs, 88 of Page Street in Kittery died on Jan. 18, 2012, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, N.H.

Born in Millinockett, on May 3, 1923, she was one of sixteen children to Henry and Victoria (LeBlond) Morrow. She attended local schools including Stearns High School. She met and married her loving husband, Fabian Hobbs and together they settled in Kittery and raised their family.

Mildred is survived by her family; sons, Monie Hobbs and his wife Diana of South Berwick and Fabian and his wife Robin Hobbs of Highland of Ill.; grandchildren, Monie Hobbs Jr and his wife Dayna, Darrell Hobbs and his wife Hope and Lindsay Hobbs; great grandchildren, Zachary, Samantha, Danielle, Amber and Elijah, as well as a sister Audrey Balbi of Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y.

Mildred enjoyed membership in the Kittery Historical Society and was a member for well over forty years in her church, the Kittery Point Baptist Church.

A funeral will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at noon in her church, at the corner of Route 103 and Haley Roads. Friends may visit with her family in church from 10 a.m. until the service begins.

In appreciation of the wonderful care and support she received from everyone at York Hospital, her family requests donations in lieu of flowers to York Hospital Friendraising, Hospital Drive York, Maine 03909. Care for the Hobbs family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.

Mildred married Fabian Durwood Hobbs, son of Monie Earl Hobbs and Leah Cole Danforth, 27 July 1941 in Maine.⁴²⁶ (Fabian Durwood Hobbs was born 20 March 1918 in Springfield, Penobscot County, Maine ^272,5954 and died 26 September 1985 ^5954,5955.)
