ARCHIE M. WELLMAN

RETIRED PAYMASTER AND CONTINENTAL MILLS PURCHASING AGENT DIES

Archie M. Wellman, 87, of 115 Summer St., Auburn died at the Central Maine General Hospital Friday afternoon following an illness of two days.

Born at Auburn Oct. 20, 1876, he was the son of Hiram G. and Caroline M. Day Wellman. He was educated in Lewiston-Auburn schools and graduated from the Lewiston Business College.

He married the former Maude Kingsley, Feb. 23, 1902.

Mr. Wellman was employed at the Continental Mills for 54 years, retiring in 1946 as paymaster and purchasing agent.

He was a 50 year member of Tranquil Lodge No. 29 A.F. and A.M., Bradford Chapter of Auburn, Dunlap Council, Lewiston Commanderie, Lewiston Lodge of Perfection, Rose Croix, Princes of Jerusalem, Maine Constitory of Portland and a life member of the Kora Shrine Temple.

Mr. Wellman is survived by his widow; two daughters, Miss Dorothy Wellman of Auburn, Mrs. Walter (Meredith) Hodsdon of Rochester, N.Y.; one brother, Ernest L. Wellman, Auburn; and two grandchildren.

DIED -- In Lewiston, Nov. 15, Archie M. Wellman, husband of Maude Kingsley Wellman. Funeral services will be held at Plummer & Morrill Funeral Home, 212 Turner St., Auburn, Monday at 7 p.m. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Auburn. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
