NORTHBORO - George W. Chase, 88, of 10 Rogers Ave., died Monday at University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, after a short illness.
His wife, Ellen E. (Miller) Chase died in 1992. He leaves two grandsons, David R. Wallen of Worcester and Stephen V. Wallen of San Francisco, Calif.; a granddaughter, Christine E. Bancroft of Abington; and two great-grandchildren. He was born in Brockton and lived here for the past 50 years. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during World War II and retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He also served in the Air Force Reserves from 1946 to 1968.
Mr. Chase worked at Massachusetts Electric in Westboro for 43 years as a distribution supervisor, retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Paul Revere Lodge of Masons in Brockton since 1930 and a member of Trinity Church in Northboro and the Northboro Senior Center.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from Leland-Hayes Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northboro Senior Center, 1 Centre Drive, Northboro, 01532.
