ERMA I. ADDITON MOWER
1922 - 2004

LEWISTON - Erma I. Additon Mower of Greene passed on peacefully from this world on Saturday, Oct. 2, following a long and valiant battle with cancer.

She was born Jan. 17, 1922, on the family farm in Leeds, the third of four children of Ernest F. and Ocena Pratt Additon. She graduated from Leavitt Institute in Turner, and attended Auburn Maine School of Commerce for 1.5 years before leaving to work for United Shoe and Machinery for 6.5 years.

In 1946, she married Dwight W. (Jeff) Mower of Greene. In 1952, she began a successful career as a business woman with (then) Patrons Mutual Insurance Company, where she retired as treasurer after 35 years.

She was a devoted daughter, wife and mother, and most enjoyed both her immediate and extended families.

She was an excellent seamstress and made many items for family and friends.

After retirement, she was active with the Valley Cemetery Association. She also was active with the Greene Senior Citizens, helping organize monthly dinners, and joining them for Monday morning breakfasts at Charlie's Diner (now Rhonda's.)

She was lucky to be part of a close circle of friends who met for Friday dinners at Uncle Moe's Diner in Sabattus for years, and most recently at each other's homes, where they all played cards in the evening.

She is survived and will be greatly missed by her son, Barry F. Mower, his wife Jane, and grandson, Neal G. Mower, of Manchester; many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Phyllis Hooper and Thurlie Smith; and one brother, Elden Additon.

MOWER -- Erma I. Additon Mower died Saturday Oct. 2, 2004. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Fortin/Lewiston. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Valley Cemetery, Greene. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Greene Rescue, PO Box 510, Greene, ME 04236. A service of the Fortin Group Funeral Home and Cremation Services Lewiston, Ash and Horton Streets.

Erma married Dwight Walker Mower, son of Seward Francis Mower and Laura E.
