CLYDE D. SPEED
ENFIELD - Clyde D. Speed, 85, husband of the late Lila (Lowell) Speed, died March 3, 1998 in Zephyrhills, Fla.
He was born in Greenville, Nov. 14, 1912, the son of Cecil and Barbara (Mitchell) Speed. Clyde was a retired game warden with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. He was a deacon at the Enfield Baptist Church, and was a board member at River of Life Bible Camp.
He is survived by two sons and their wives, Dale and Joanne Speed of Princeton, and the Rev. Glenn and Joyce Speed of Princeton; a daughter and her husband, Grace Anne and Glendon Bowers of Burlington; four sisters, Phyllis Mallett of Lee, Harriet Carmody of Mattawamkeag, Florence Crocker and Elizabeth Lancaster, both of Enfield; 12 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Clay Funeral Home in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at the Enfield Baptist Church, with the Rev. Glenn Speed and the Rev. Cleo Winningham officiating. Spring interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Clyde and Lila Speed Mission Fund at the Enfield Baptist Church. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
