LOUISE C. SMITH

DOVER-FOXCROFT - Louise Campbell Smith, 83, wife of the late Ralph L. Smith, died Sept. 5, 1994, at a local nursing home.

She was born in East Sangerville, Aug. 2, 1911, the daughter of Fred S. and Marie G. Perrault Campbell. She was a graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1930, and Aroostook State Normal School at Presque Isle, Class of 1932. She taught school in Caswell, Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft.

She was a member of MTA and the Piscataquis Retired Teacher's Association. She was a member of the Dover-Foxcroft United Church of Christ (Congregational), where she had served as deaconess and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the Women's Fellowship and served as its president in 1985 and 1986.

She is survived by two sons, David M. Smith and his wife, Diane Varnum Smith, of Old Town, and Alan C. Smith and his wife, Linda Blethen Smith of Dover-Foxcroft; four grandchildren, James D. Smith of Bangor, Tracy L. and her husband, Timothy Phillips of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Ryan C. and Stephen C. Smith of Dover-Foxcroft; and a great-granddaughter, Jaclyn P. Phillips of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 6, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft, where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, with the Rev. Kenneth Dale officiating. Burial will be in the family lot Rural Grove Cemetery. For those who wish, contributions in Mrs. Smith's memory may be made to the Building Fund of the Congregational Church, 10 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426.
