Wilber Swan
SOUTH PARIS -- Wilber R. Swan, 74, a life-long resident of this community, died Wednesday at the Stephens Memorial Hospital following a long illness.
Born in South Paris, Sept. 25, 1891, he was the son of Horace L. and Verna Maxim Swan. He was educated in Paris schools and was graduated from South Paris High School in 1910. Mr. Swan was employed as a foreman with the Mason Manufacturing Co. for 25 years. He was later foreman of the ski department at Paris Manufacturing Co. for several years. At the time of his retirement in 1960, he was superintendent of the packing department at the Wilner Woods Product Co., South Paris. On Aug. 3, 1914, Mr. Swan married the former Lura Morrill, Sumner. He was a 40 years member of the Paris Lodge, AF and AM, a former member of the past noble grand of Mount Mica Lodge, IOOF, and Aurora Encampment. Mr. Swan attended the First Congregational Church.
He leaves his widow of South Paris; a son, Roland M., South Paris; two daughters, Mrs. Howard R. Frost, Richfield, Conn. and Mrs. Alex Law, Yucapa, Calif.; a brother, Guy North, Berwick and seven grandchildren.
DIED -- At Norway, Dec. 22, 1965, Wilber R. Swan of South Paris. Funeral services will be held from the Huff Funeral Home, Main Street, South Paris, Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. Kenneth V. Gray of the First Congregational Church officiating. Entombment Riverside Cemetery receiving vault to await burial in the spring in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make contributions to the Stephens Memorial Hospital in his memory.
