Lura B. Swan
SOUTH PARIS -- Mrs. Lura B. Swan, 83, died Monday afternoon at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway.
She was born in Sumner, Nov. 14, 1893, the daughter of George C. and Katie Shaw Morrill. She attended gradeschool at the Morrill Schoolhouse in Sumner and graduated from Buckfield High School, class of 1912. She taught school in Redding Sumner, and for a time in the Corbett neighborhood in South Paris. She had been a resident of Paris since 1914 and was married to Wilbur Swan, who died in 1965. Mrs. Swan attended the First Congregational Church of South Paris and was a member of its Ladies Circle and Thalians of that church. She was also a member of the Mt. Hope Rebekah Lodge, the Sunshine Club and Maine Retired Teachers Assn.
Surviving are a son, Roland M. of South Paris; two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Frost, Stamford, Conn. and Mrs. Theresa Law, Yucaipa, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a brother, Alfred of Sumner.
SWAN - At Norway, June 20, 1977, Lura B. Swan, age 83 of South Paris. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. from the Raymond Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, So. Paris with Reverends Thomas Richard and Kenneth Gray, officiating. Interment will be in the Riverside Cemetery, South Paris. Visiting hours will be at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m.
