Alva Lindsey
Alva Lindsey, 79, a resident of Freeport since 1920, passed away at his home, 617 West Douglas Street, at 8 o'clock last night following a long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at the home Thursday afternoon. Rev. G.W. Anderson will conduct the services and interment will be made at Oakland.
Mr. Lindsey was born in Del Rey, Illinois, July 12, 1860, the son of Forest and Irene Lindsey. He was united in marriage to Miss Margaret Crozier Nov. 8, 1882 at Paxton, Ill. In 1932 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They resided at Thawville, Ill. until 1901, then moving to Clinton, Ill. where he was employed in the water department of the Illinois Central railroad company. In 1920 the family moved to Freeport where he was employed by the Pane Canning company until his last illness. He leaves his widow and the following children, Mrs. Albert Klenke, Mrs. Henry Kinert, Chauncey A. Lindsey and Charles W. Lindsey, all of Freeport, a sister Mrs. Ida Outtrim, Churdan, Ia. One son, Clarence passed away in 1930 while another son and a daughter died in infancy. Two grandsons also survive, Harry Kinert and Billie Lindsey, Freeport.
