MRS. JOHN H. GOWEN
WILTON -- Mrs. Clara Ruth Gowen, 87, widow of John H. Gowen, died Monday noon at the Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where she had been a patient since Friday, following an accident in her home in which she sustained a fractured hip. She was born in Lagrange, May 2, 1865, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dyer. March 4, 1877, she married John H. Gowen who died in 1934. They lived in California for two years, returning to make their home in Monmouth for 30 years, following which they lived in Auburn. Mrs. Gowen came to Wilton five years ago.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Maud Hayes, Freeport; Mrs. Mildred Lindsay, North Monmouth; Miss Ina R. Gowen, Wilton; and Mrs. Helen Shelby, Wilton; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a brother, David N., Lagrange.
DIED -- In Farmington, Oct. 19, Mrs. Clara Ruth Gowen, formerly of Auburn, Me. Funeral services will be held from the Edwards Funeral Home, Wilton, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Interment East Monmouth.
