LEWISTON VETERAN SEEKS TO REPRESENT WARD ONE ON BOARD OF ALDERMAN
Arthur A. Dube, 32, of 837 Main Street, Lewiston is seeking the Ward One seat on the Board of Mayor and Alderman at the Feb. 19 election. A native of Lewiston and a World War II veteran, Dube will be making his first venture into politics.
A graduate of Lewiston High School and an employee of the Central Maine Power Co., Mr. Dube comes from a family which has been identified with local and county politics and has taken a keen interest in this city.
He took but his nominations papers recently and already has more than the required number of signatures. Dube is particularly interested in having conditions in the upper part of Ward One improved., esp. in the manner of sidewalks. He has mentioned the large number of school children in the area and lack of adequate sidewalk facilities, with the result the children are walking in the street. Mr. Dube is the father of two young sons. Mrs. Dube is the former Helen Gallagher.
During World War II, Mr. Dube served four and a half years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and spent two and a half years in the Pacific area. He was awarded the Bronze Star.
Another possible candidate in Ward One is William Donovan Jr., 17 Walker Ave., former local hockey player and hockey coach. Robert Peabody has taken out nominations papers as a Ward One candidate.
The Ward One council seat is being vacated by Roland R. Marcotte who is a mayoralty candidate this year.

Arthur A. Dube, of 837 Main St., Lewiston marked the end of his 35th year of service with the Central Maine Power Company on Wednesday. A native of Lewiston, he served in World War II in he Army Signal Corps from 1941-45, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He joined CMP in 1939 as a groundman in Lewiston and advanced through line department classifications to become a line foreman in 1957. Dube has been active in civic affairs and served as the Lewiston Ward One alderman in 1950-51. He is also a 10 year member of the New Auburn Social Club. He married the former Helen E. Gallagher of Lewiston and they have three grown children.

AUBURN - Arthur A. Dube, 91, of 837 Main St., Lewiston, died Tuesday, Nov. 3. He was born in Lewiston, Sept. 11, 1918, the son of Charles and Delvina Dubois Dube Jr.
Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1937. On Feb. 22, 1941, he married the former Helen Gallagher. A veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army in the Pacific, and earning a Bronze Star. He was employed by Central Maine Power for more than 41 years, retiring as a line supervisor.
Survivors include his loving wife of Lewiston; two sons, Kenneth and wife, Serena, of Poland and Peter and wife, Patricia, of Greene; a sister, Lorraine and husband, Bertrand Poirier, of Auburn; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Mark in 1997.
