Lear E. Laforte, 77, past PTA president
Lear E. (Douglass) Laforte, 77, of 79 Midway St., Indian Orchard, a retired bookkeeper for the former Eastern Electronics Co., Wilbraham, died Saturday in Mercy Hospital.
She previously worked at Haberman Insurance Co., and Aetna Insurance Co., both in Springfield.
A lifelong resident of Springfield, she graduated from the High School of Commerce and from Bay Path Institute in 1928.
She was a member and past president of the Carew Street Parent Teachers Association.
Her husband, Joseph A. Laforte, died in 1977. She leaves a son, Joseph Douglass Laforte of Windsor, Conn., and a daughter, Pamela G. Laforte, with whom she lived.
The funeral will be Sunday evening at Byron's State Street Funeral Home with burial at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Sunday prior to the funeral.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association, both located at 57 Suffolk St., Holyoke, 01040.
