LEWISTON -- Doris E. Mower, 84, a resident of Quaker Ridge Road, Greene, died Sunday evening, Sept. 20 at the Marshwood Healthcare Center where she had resided for eight years.
She was born July 15, 1914 in Greene, the daughter of Seward and Laura Bishop Mower. She attended Patten Grammar School in Greene and was a graduate of Lewiston High School. She worked at Coburns Skewer Mill and also in the local shoe shops of Auburn, retiring in 1979 from Shapiro Brothers. She derived great pleasure from her family and enjoyed writing poetry, doing crossword puzzles and playing beano. She composed and published songs, and enjoyed singing to her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by a brother, Dwight "Jeff" of Greene; and two sisters, Dorothy Chateauvert of Lewiston and Mrs. Wallace (Dell) Reed of Greene; 14 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Dwinal "Bucky."
MOWER -- Died in Lewiston, Maine, Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, Doris E. Mower, age 84 of Greene, Maine. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Valley Cemetery in Greene. Arrangements by Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home, 707 Main Street, Monmouth, Maine.
