VIOLET T. AUSTIN

DOVER-FOXCROFT -- Violet T. Austin, 96, wife of the late Jasper L. Austin, died May 11, 1995 at a Dexter nursing home.

She was born Feb. 12, 1899, in East Jaffrey, N.H., the daughter of Frank and Amelia (Miller) Towne. She lived an exemplary life, never waivering from her strong faith in God, regardless of what life handed her. She led a life of service to others. She was matron of the Warren Home (for elderly ladies) in Dover Foxcroft for 15 years. She was active in the work of her church, The Assembly of God, of which she was a charter member. She was pianist and organist of that church for 60 years. She was known as a loving friend by many in her community.

She is survived by three daughters and a step-daughter, June Buckman of Old Town, Faith Holland of Guildford, Hope Lacourciere of Dover-Foxcroft and Bertha Gallant of Sangerville; one sister, Frances Marrandette of Marlboro, Mass.; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by three sons, Wesley, Jerry and Dwane.

Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, May 14, at the Assembly of God Church, Dover-Foxcroft, with Pastor Thomas Bruce officiating. Those who wish may make contributions to the Dexter Nursing Home, 64 Park St., Dexter 04930. Burial will be in the family lot in Lee Cemetery.
