Helen Reta Marsland
A private memorial service will be held for Helen Reta Marsland, who died June 26, 1997, at age 83.
Mrs. Marsland was born Dec. 2, 1913, in Baker City. Her maiden name was Hesner. She attended school in Pleasant Valley. In 1935, she married Arthur T.; he died last year. In the early 1940s, they moved to Stockton, Calif., and operated a service station and cafe until 1961. They moved to Placerville in 1962 and were builders to Newberg in 1979 and to Woodburn in 1993.
Survivors include her daughter, Darlene Sutton of Woodburn; sister, Delma Miles of Sumpter Valley; brother, Elton Hesner of Pine Grove, Calif.; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City. The family suggests remembrances to the Alzheimer's Foundation. Arrangements are by Attrell's Newberg Funeral Chapel.
